Violentmonky è un'estessione FOSS (Free Open Source Software) che funge da userscript mangaer.
Detto in parole povere, essa permette all'utente di modificare le pagine web grazie all'uso di alcuni script.
Uno userscript manager, quindi, non è altro che un manager (ovvero un gestore) di script.
Essa è disponibile sia per i browser basati su Firefox che per quelli basati su Chrome.

Che cos'è uno script?

Uno script è un piccolo pezzo di codice, scritto in un linguaggio di programmazione, che inserito all'interno di una pagina web ne modifica l'estetica o le funzioni.

Gli userscript manager semplificano notevolmente il lavoro di inserimento degli script nel codice della pagina web, in quanto essi permettono sia di aggiungere gli script in modo estremamente semplice sia di aggiungerli direttamente alle pagine web.
Quindi possono essere usati anche dagli utenti meno esperti.

Gli script possono essere usati al posto di molte estensioni, con notevoli benefici per gli utenti. Tra questi, abbiamo:

• gli script sono molto più leggeri delle estensioni, quindi sono meno gravosi per il browser
• gli script vengono gestiti dallo userscript manager, e quindi possono essere esportati (o importati) tutti quanti in un file zip. Questo è molto utile perchè se si cambia browser basta solo reinstallare lo userscript manager e importare tutti gli script esportandoli dal browser vecchio
• se si usa firefox su android, si può installare l'estensione di Violentmonkey e importare tutti gli script sul proprio smartphone, consentendo un'ampia gamma di funzioni con il minimo sforzo
• permettono di sostituire molte estensioni, in quanto uno userscript manager può accogliere infiniti script, senza dover installare altre estensioni
• faciltà di gestione, infatti script possono essere:
  • disabilitati
  • rimossi (singolarmente o in gruppo)
  • esportati (singolarmente o in gruppo)

Da dove si possono prendere gli script?

Ho trovato un sito molto affidabile e generalmente sicuro (finora non ho mai avuto nessun problema) e si chiama Greasy fork.
La peculiarità di questo sito è che permette di fare ricerche di script in varie lingue, quella in italiano è la più comoda ma non è la più ricca. Infatti, se si passa alla ricerca in inglese si trovano molti più risultati.

Come si vede nell'immagine precedente, per cambiare lingua basta cliccare in alto a destra.

Alcuni script utili

• script per mostrare cronologia prezzi e recensioni reali su amazon
• script che ti reindirizza da servizi web proprietari ad alternative etiche (front-end)
• script per il reindirizzamento degli url direttamente dalle ricerche del browser

Ci sono davvero tantissimi script, io ve ne ho inseriti soltanto alcuni.

Violentmonkey

Violentmonky is a FOSS (Free Open Source Software) extension that acts as a userscript mangaer.
Simply put, it allows the user to modify web pages through the use of certain scripts.
A userscript manager, then, is nothing more than a manager (i.e., a handler) of scripts.
It is available for both Firefox and Chrome-based browsers.

What is a script?

A script is a small piece of code, written in a programming language, that inserted within a web page changes its aesthetics or functions.

Userscript managers greatly simplify the job of inserting scripts into the web page code, as they make it both extremely easy to add scripts and to add them directly to web pages.
Thus they can be used even by less experienced users.

Scripts can be used in place of many extensions, with significant benefits for users. Among these, we have:

• scripts are much lighter than extensions, so they are less of a burden on the browser
• scripts are managed by the userscript manager, and so they can all be exported (or imported) to a zipper file. This is very useful because if you change browsers you only have to reinstall the userscript manager and import all the scripts by exporting them from the old browser
• if you use firefox on android, you can install the Violentmonkey extension and import all the scripts on your smartphone, allowing a wide range of functions with minimal effort
• allow you to replace many extensions, as one userscript manager can accommodate endless scripts, without having to install other extensions
  ease of management, in fact scripts can be:
  • disabled
  • removed (individually or as a group)
  • exported (individually or as a group)

Where can one get the scripts from?

I have found a very reliable and generally safe site (so far I have never had any problems) and it is called Greasy fork.
The peculiarity of this site is that it allows you to search for scripts in various languages, the one in Italian being the most convenient but not the richest. In fact, if you switch to the English search you will find many more results.
